Tides (again)
04:53
|
|||
When the tides take me down
I’ll still be standing on the ground
If there’s no light
I’ll find a way to put one in my sky
If it’s too bright
I’ll burn my skin and say it was a fire
I’m egging on my next beginning
While hanging on to my goodbyes
Until that bittersweet reunion
When it comes crashing back inside
And when the new sensation take me
I’ll feel it shiver down my spine
But there’s no expectations really
As long as I remain all mine
I’m awake every hour of the day
And it feels like I’ve not gone away
Maybe that’s how those tides go
I collapse on the edge of the stairs
Tumble down ‘till I’m lost in the lair
Maybe that’s how those tides spin me around
When the tides take me down
I’ll still be standing on the ground

A Strange New Place
07:14
|
|||
I back myself into a corner every now and again
It take some time, it take some time but I get out in the end
What if I stayed?
I took a walk and found myself in a strange new place
It was a mess, it was a mess I went the other way
What if I stayed?
I came right back and found myself in a brand new day
As moments pass as moments pass they find a way to remain
What if I stayed?
What if I stayed?

Cold Shoulder
04:06
|
|||
Somebody got caught
On the way back to his loft
And we, all
Joked and laughed the whole night long until they found him swallowing coal
With a tab and a watch and a crooked skull cold shoulder
It was all that we could offer: cold shoulder
Seems to me it gets lonely outside it gets lonely outside
We wait, in fear of the little white lies of the little white lies
And I, I just wanna know how it happens, oh how it happens that
Cold shoulder
Training those thoughts
Stay in pace with what we’ve got
Deleting all wrongs
Now all that’s left is to give a cold shoulder
It is all that we can offer: cold shoulder
I just wanna know

When I first heard you were moving away
It felt like a bolt that had ripped through my brain
You came by to see me I pushed you away
You left without speaking you left the next day
Now I’m stuck pacing the same corridor
Each step’s an echo of movements before
I wanted to find you there was much to say
I was too stubborn I threw it away
But when I felt done
And gone in the head
I found myself calling your name
You came to visit not too long ago
We all had a drink and you put on a show
I wanted to see you when we were alone
But it was no use I was a bit too slow
We met once more in a dead parking lot
You looked at me without even a thought
We exchanged some words but I was overwrought
Now it is over so over and gone
But when I was done
And lost in the head
I found myself calling your name
I found myself calling your name

PTO
02:32
|
|||
I took a break, it lasted a second
But it felt like a year or two
Someone spoke, I tried hard to listen
But the words just did not get through
And now I see how far I reach
I’m getting old of pleasantries
So I’ll take some time to just unwind
I’ll take some time to just let myself
Go

Mutual
03:25
|
|||
Bought yourself a soul and sold it on the way home
All those empty promises mean nothing when you’re on a roll
And the feeling is…mutual
Every now and then I hear another cry
And I’d hoped we’d all get sick of you
But everyone rushed to your side, and the feeling is…
Mutual
Just before you’re done
Be sure to check the signs
Make sure it’s all in front of you or else you’ll feel behind
And the feeling is…Mutual

Family Gatherings
05:31
|
|||
Tired people tired living
Paying the rent and fixing up dinner the
TV never changes channels.
Everyone’s watching, but no-one looks at the screen
I just want a little less routine
My behavior is just obscene
Angry people angry living
It don’t make a difference
If you say what you really mean
They’ve got their crackpot opinions, fixing for fighting
Anyone that don’t agree
It’s all the same, it’s always the same thing
It’s all the same….
I know we’re a patient bunch
Waiting around for some new stories
We’ll always be that patient bunch
Telling ourselves the same old stories
Angry people angry living
Angry houses, and angry kitchens I wonder
How’s their family gatherings?
Shouting and screaming, what a wonderful afternoon
It’s all the same, it’s always the same thing
It’s all the same
Got my fix now I’m done
Done with hanging on
To the words you’re spouting off
I know it don’t mean much
I’m alone
And it feels fine
I’m alone

I Found Light
06:11
|
|||
I found light
In the center of an ashtray
All the embers were a burnt grey
In the middle of the freeway
I found light
In the back of a parked car
‘Cause the front had been ripped off
The driver limped out said:
I found light
I never knew what it felt like
To feel the cool of the tailpipe
It went out like a splinter
I found light
It was a man on the highway
Took a hitch, took my car away
When he sped off he said:
All you’ve got is all you can break
Take no wheels that you did make
All you’ve got is all you can break
Make no wheels until you take
I found light
At the end of a long road
Piss drunk with a wet coat
Clutched tight to the wheel spoke
I found light
I turned it off at my first chance
It wasn’t my scene anyway
I’ll take a shot on another day
All you’ve got is all you can break
Take no wheels that you did make
All you’ve got is all you can break
Make no wheels until you take

Looking For Answers
03:58
|
|||
Before the ancients spoke to me their silence was so deafening
I toiled just to make the scene, an extra by the morning
I followed then, I followed them, on my best behavior
I followed then, I followed them, looking for my answers
In bottled memories and picket signs, the ancients first appeared
But they were someone else’s kind, and made themselves unclear
They left me there a fragile mess, embittered by their warnings
Until I walked a different line, and made up some new stories
I followed then, I followed them
Trying to find glory
I followed then, I followed them,
Looking for my answers
Among the hallways and posterboards
Are secrets etched in warnings
Immortalized by future wards, they’re forgotten by the morning
That’s where it started, and where it ends
Struttin’ down the corning
I leave the markings to their fates, and shout, “I’ll see you later!”
I followed then, I followed them, on my best behavior
I followed then, but then no more
And now it’s time for answers
I followed then, I followed them, on my best behavior
I followed then, but then no more
And now it’s time for answers
And so we reach another end, another CD closed
Another set of silly songs, but some are good (I hope)
I’ll follow them as far’s the’ll go
Through empty bars and loose change
I’ll follow them until I know,
That I have found some answers
